I named CorgiPhoto after our dogs. Abbey and Pepper — named for Beatles’ albums — are frequent greeters at this studio in Ocala’s historic district. They are the stars and often the subjects.

I named the business after them for two reasons:

1. Schlenker Studios does not exactly roll off the tongue.

2. Corgis have an unabashed sense of fun. They are all about a good time. Their mission: Play and be happy. Sounded like a great business model to me.

I love to take photos, and in 2007 — at age 40 — I went back to college and earned a photography degree at the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies at Daytona State College. By day, I am a newspaper columnist/editor, as I have been for 25 years. On evenings and weekends, I operate the coolest photo studio in Ocala.  Here, I create gorgeous, fun and funky portraits. I do many location shoots, too, from weddings to sunset family photos to dramatic senior portraits in cool spaces. Every session is a good time.

I love what I do. I am very good at what I do. And I’d love to show you my work. If anything, come by and just hang out with the corgis.
